Why PDF Pages Come Out Sideways
The most common cause is scanning with the paper loaded in the wrong direction. Scanners capture the image as-is and embed it into the PDF at whatever angle it was fed. Some mobile scanning apps also default to landscape orientation. Another common cause is receiving a PDF exported from software that used landscape page settings, or a camera-captured document where the phone was held sideways.
Rotating the View vs. Rotating the File
Most PDF readers let you rotate the view while reading. This is temporary — the rotation is not saved. If you email or print the file, it will revert to the original orientation. To permanently fix the orientation, you need a tool that modifies the PDF structure and saves the rotation change into the file itself.
How to Rotate a PDF Page Online
