How to Track Your Word Count While Writing
Rather than checking word count only at the end, track it as you write. Paste sections into a word counter after each major section to see how far along you are. If your introduction runs 600 words on its own, that is a sign to trim before the rest of the paper bloats the total. For research papers with a section breakdown (introduction, methodology, results, discussion), allocate word count targets to each section in advance so your structure stays balanced.
